So this weekend I got some much needed rest.. hit a few car meets and got a offer for my car at the car wash yesterday.
Saturday me and a buddy went to the Cabelas car meet in South Austin .. There was a great turn out and got a great response on my car.. Rolled out there with my buddy chuck who owns 2 of the cleanest 50's chevy's you could imagine a 55 convertible numbers matching car in sky blue and this epic 57 wagon LS1 heads cam 4L60E Car shown above.
I've always liked going to car shows but it's really not as much fun when you don't get to browse around like everyone else because someone is constantly asking a question about the car . I'm flattered somebody likes my jalopy tho.
Yesterday I went for a car wash and had a kid walk up to me and ask how much I'd take for the car.. I told him to make a offer but he insisted I tell him what I would take for it.. I told him 10k not a penny less. Realistically if I wanted to sell the car I may take less but I don't want to sell it and I don't really need the money.
I was expecting him to laugh and walk away and he said "10 grand huh ? well I'm looking at a Camaro that cost 15k but it needs more work blah blah .. so we'll see if he comes knocking on my door I may be building a new ride again .. who knows..

Having sold "My Baby" before, I totally understand throwing out a high number. My roommate did the same for one of his built up mopeds, and surprisingly the guy said sure.

built up moped ? what part of the country are you in ? I could use a moped to get to and from work.

I'm in Grand Rapids, MI. His Puch Maxi will go 55 and his Honda Hobbit will do a solid 63, front tire off the ground for a good 30 feet.

That is fucking awesome.

I'd like to have my a little hobbit. These things are getting pricey fast tho. I better act quick in getting one and hope it's not too late. The hipsters tend to take daddies money and buy up all the cool shit before us working folk can save up to buy it...

nope, I'm the one who will buy your car... Give me a few months :)

If you sell it for 10k you should get your license reinstated before building something else. Just sayin', man.

ok man.. You know how to get ahold of me when the time comes.. and now you know the number. Cash lol

Thanks man.. If I don't get my license reinstated I'll have to buy one of those old crown vics and put a 6.0 liter and some turbos !!!

I think what you meant to say was quad-turbo 4.6L Crown Vic.

If I buy it I would most likely fly to Texas to pick it up and ship it (along with 1 or 2 other car probably haha), so yes, cash.... :)
If you want me to give you quite a bit of money for it, make it look good... Japanese-good. Nice interior, paint and so on. I'd be ready to pay quite a bit for a car in perfect cosmetic shape. I could do it myself in Japan but it's jut more complicated...
Make it look REALLY nice and you'd get a REALLY nice price from me haha

the catch is you'll be one of THE ONLY guys in Japan to have a USDM 280z left hand drive with a american V8 . hell you could probably sell it for a ton to the right guy over there.

JAW DROP...... um uhhh.. I think I made somewhere around 37k last year. So I could afford the motor but not a car for it to go in . Or a place to stay for a year or food for a year or activities for a year... ehhh I'll stick to my LS motors.

I believe you meant, "stick to my twin-turbo supercharged LS motors".

I don't plan on keeping it for very long... Zs are weirdly expensive there, to a point where the import Zs back from the US.... Like VERY expensive... Especially when they are build to look like 240s. I would most likely keep it for a few month and sell it back, hoping for a nice margin on it.
But Japanese are very difficult when it comes to cars. They have to be absolutely perfect looking, inside and out. I would never be able to sell it back the way it is right now. Cosmetically perfect though, it could make big money. It's mostly what I want to do...

what do you mean by ment to look like 240z ?
![]() 08/25/2014 at 15:57 |
|
no bumper instead of the ugly 280z' ones normally on it, the typical front end spoiler, wheel arches, slightly wider...etc etc. Basically the more you hide the 280z into a 240z, the more value it gets :)
But a USDM 280z with plastic bumper and everything stock on it will not be worth so much even in Japan... A highly modified 280z that looks good though... hum... could be worth quite a bit :)

well the more effort I put into this car the more I'll want for it obviously I still think the car in perfect condition could bring over 20k in Japan . I have plans on painting the car this fall and you'll just have to like the color.. Good thing you like Yellow already lol... butternut yellow here we come !
![]() 08/25/2014 at 16:24 |

Yeah, I think it could bring over 20k$... But it would have to be absolutly perfect for that... Do you have pictures of the interior of your car right now? Just curious :)

Those are the seats . they are now in the car. The headliner will be redone soon with black suede . I just laid a ton of heat soaking material this weekend and it's helped a lot but it still gets pretty hot in the car after a while.

holy crap, the seats are very.... 70's hahaha If I ever end up getting the car one day, I might change them for something less.... psychedelic hahhaa :)
And yeah I bet the transmission gets the whole car kind of crazy hot during a texas' summer :)
